✈️ Bilt's New Southwest Partner, Citi Emirates Devaluation & Chase Freedom Unlimited Bonus
Hey there, miles and points enthusiasts! Lucas here with your daily dose of travel rewards news and updates.
Today we've got some interesting developments in the points world that I'm excited to share with you. First up, Bilt Rewards has just added Southwest Airlines as their newest transfer partner. This is pretty significant as it brings their total transfer partners to 19, and transfers will be at a 1:1 ratio. Southwest points aren't typically the highest value, but having more options is always a good thing.
In less exciting news, Citi ThankYou Rewards is making a change that might affect your travel plans. Starting July 27th, they'll be reducing their Emirates Skywards transfer ratio from 1:1 to 1:0.8. That means 1,000 Citi points will only get you 800 Emirates points - a 20% devaluation that's definitely worth keeping in mind if you're planning any Emirates redemptions.
Now, if you've been thinking about picking up the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, listen up - there's an increased welcome offer that's ending soon. You can earn 25,000 points or 250 dollars after spending just 500 dollars in the first three months. That's a really solid return for such a low spending requirement, but you'll need to act fast as this offer ends on May 1st.
United Airlines is making some interesting changes to their procedures for handling intoxicated passengers. Starting May 1st, they're implementing a new 'huddle' policy where two flight attendants must agree that a passenger is too intoxicated before removing them from a flight. It's an interesting move that shows they're trying to be more methodical in their approach to these situations.
For those following airline financials, American Airlines reported their first quarter results, and it wasn't pretty - they posted a 473 million dollar loss while their competitors Delta and United reported profits. The flight attendants union isn't too happy about this, as you might imagine.
